Late night bars in Shoreditch

Shoreditch High Street, London EC2 - 54040845069

If it is past midnight in Shoreditch and you are not ready to go home, head to Rivington Street. Callooh Callay at number 65 pours until 3am from Thursday to Sunday, which makes it the most reliable late bar in EC2A. On Fridays and Saturdays the Old Blue Last on Great Eastern Street and Old Street Records on Old Street also run until 3am. A tier below, at 2am, are Seed Library on Shoreditch High Street, Queen of Hoxton on Curtain Road, Discount Suit Company off Petticoat Lane and The Sun Tavern on Bethnal Green Road. Tonight is Saturday 31 October, so expect Halloween crowds and sold-out tickets in places.

Callooh Callay, Rivington Street

Callooh Callay is the cocktail bar that keeps going. It is open 6pm to 1am Monday to Wednesday and 6pm to 3am Thursday to Sunday, and the Jabberwocky theme runs through the hidden rooms and the JubJub Bar. Sunday until 3am is rare round here, so it is worth remembering on a bank holiday weekend.

The Old Blue Last, Great Eastern Street

The Old Blue Last at 38 Great Eastern Street is a pub with 300 years of history and a gig and club programme that once included early Arctic Monkeys and Amy Winehouse shows. It opens at 12.30pm daily, runs to 1am on Thursdays and until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Tonight it hosts Scary Things, an NTS Halloween party, with tickets on DICE.

Old Street Records, Old Street

Old Street Records at 350-356 Old Street, EC1V, is a bar with live music on two floors. It is open until 1am Monday to Wednesday, 2am on Thursday and 3am on Friday and Saturday, and it is closed on Sundays. Tonight's Halloween night, The Wolf of Old Street, runs 10pm to 3am across both floors and is sold out online, with limited tickets on the door. Next Friday, 6 November, Easy Tigers play the ground floor from 8pm and a Concrete Jungle DJ set runs in the basement until 2am. On Tuesdays the basement hosts Common People, an open mic from 8pm to 10pm with sign-ups at 7pm, and performers get a free drink. Each event on its website has its own booking or ticket link, so check before you set off on a big night.

Until 2am

Until 1am

For a later-than-usual pint rather than a big night, the Ten Bells on Commercial Street opens until 1am Thursday to Saturday. On Bethnal Green Road, Coupette serves cocktails until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Food before the last round

Shoreditch kitchens close well before the bars do, so eat first. At the Owl and Pussycat on Redchurch Street food runs until 10pm Monday to Saturday. Well & Bucket at 143 Bethnal Green Road serves until 10pm, does a £20 deal of six Maldon oysters and a pint of Guinness and stays open until 12.30am on Fridays and Saturdays. Seven floors up on Willow Street, Llama Inn takes food orders until 10.30pm Thursday to Saturday and serves drinks until midnight. Queen of Hoxton's kitchen opens at 5pm on its late nights.

Late night, night by night

  • Monday: Callooh Callay or Old Street Records, both until 1am.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Callooh Callay or Old Street Records until 1am; Seed Library from Wednesday.
  • Thursday: Callooh Callay until 3am; Queen of Hoxton, Old Street Records and The Sun Tavern until 2am.
  • Friday and Saturday: Callooh Callay, the Old Blue Last and Old Street Records until 3am.
  • Sunday: Callooh Callay until 3am; Seed Library until 1am.

Hours change for events and bank holidays, and a sold-out night means a queue or no entry. For clubs that run beyond 3am, see our Shoreditch nightlife guide; this list is for bars.
