Live music venues in Shoreditch
The best live music venue in Shoreditch is still the Old Blue Last, a pub on Great Eastern Street where bands play every night of the week. Around it sit a warehouse on Holywell Lane, a rebuilt club on Cowper Street, five rooms on Brick Lane, an arts centre on Bethnal Green Road and a jazz basement on City Road. Most of them are within a 15-minute walk of Old Street or Shoreditch High Street stations, so you can decide on the night.
The Old Blue Last, Great Eastern Street
The Old Blue Last at 38 Great Eastern Street, EC2A, is the venue other venues measure themselves against. It is a working east end pub with a seven-day programme, and it hosted early shows by Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse, IDLES and George Ezra. It opens at 12.30pm daily and runs until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Go on a weeknight for bands you have not heard of yet; that is the point of the place.
Village Underground, Holywell Lane
Village Underground at 54 Holywell Lane is a Victorian warehouse with old Jubilee line carriages on the roof. Gigs start at 7.30pm. In the next six weeks the listings include Lido Pimienta with AMORE and Ms Ray on Thursday 5 November, MF Robots on Thursday 19 November and Ledbyher on Monday 14 December. Club nights take over later in the evening at weekends. The building has a history worth knowing: the warehouse was a railway coalstore, the recycled Jubilee line carriages were craned on with Great Eastern Street shut for the day, and it opened in April 2007.
XOYO, Cowper Street
XOYO is mainly a club, but its rebuilt room also books live shows: Evangelia on Thursday 5 November, Pixel Grip on Wednesday 25 November and Renditions: The Fleetwood Mac Experience on Friday 27 November. Renditions: A Night with Sade on Saturday 19 December has already sold out.
93 Feet East, Brick Lane
93 Feet East at 150 Brick Lane, E1, has a dedicated Live Room alongside its Main Room, courtyard and rooftop. Its 93 Live series has Lo Fidelity Allstars on Friday 6 November, and Hot Vox brings Herodias, Jackals and Posture on Friday 20 November. It also hosts the Brick Lane Jazz Festival, which returns from Friday 23 April 2027.
Colours, Hoxton Square
Colours at 2-4 Hoxton Square is the old Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, relaunched in 2019. Its Live Room has its own bar and cloakroom and books emerging and established artists. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays; check the listings for Tuesday to Thursday.
Rich Mix, Bethnal Green Road
Rich Mix at 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, E1, is a charity arts centre with cinema screens and a live venue, and its programme leans global. Coming up: Manding Melody with Habib Koite and Sura Susso on Sunday 1 November, and the K-Music Festival show by Dongyang Gozupa on Wednesday 11 November. Tickets are through Dice. The building is a former leather factory over five floors, with a three-screen cinema, so a film before the gig is easy to arrange.
Nightjar, City Road
Nightjar at 129 City Road, EC1V, is a cocktail bar with live jazz, blues, swing and funk every night from 9pm. The music cover charge goes to the musicians. Walk-ins are accepted, but on a Friday you will want a booking.
Hoxton Hall, Hoxton Street
Hoxton Hall is a charity-run hall for music, cabaret, theatre and comedy. It began in 1863 as a saloon-style music hall, spent many years as a Quaker meeting house and is one of the few rooms in the area built for performance from the start. December is its busy month: Hohnen Ford on Tuesday 8 December, James Yorkston on Wednesday 9 December and the Hidden Jazz Club on Saturday 19 December.
Rough Trade East, Brick Lane
Rough Trade East sits in the former Truman Brewery off Brick Lane and still runs gigs on its in-store stage. The Rough Trade that closed in July 2026 was the Soho vintage shop on Beak Street, not this one.
