Redchurch Street shops: what is on the street now
Redchurch Street, E2, runs between Shoreditch High Street and Brick Lane, one short street of shops you can walk quickly and browse for a whole afternoon. Most shops open at 10am or 11am and close at 6pm or 7pm, and the best of them open on Sundays too. Shoreditch High Street Overground is the nearest station. Shops here change hands often, so this is the street as we checked it at the end of October 2026.
Labour and Wait, 85 Redchurch Street
If you only go in one shop, make it Labour and Wait. Its home and flagship has been 85 Redchurch Street since 2010, in a late Georgian building that was once a Truman brewery pub called The Dolphin, and it still has the original green tiled front. Inside is the shop's long argument for things that work and last: household and kitchen goods, bathroom things, tools for the garden, clothing, stationery and books. It opens every day from 10am to 6pm.
Studio Nicholson, 29 Redchurch Street
Studio Nicholson's second London shop opened here in December 2024, and it is a return home: the brand's creative director Nick Wakeman started it from a small Shoreditch office in 2010 and ran its first shop in the area for years. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm on Monday and Tuesday, 10am to 7pm Wednesday to Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sunday.
Earl of East, 33 Redchurch Street
A few doors along, Earl of East at 33 Redchurch Street sells candles, incense, diffusers and bath things, and it is where people come for a present they can smell before they buy. It opens 10am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday. There is a second shop at 8 Market Street in Spitalfields if you are heading that way.
American Vintage, 54 Redchurch Street
The newest arrival is the French brand American Vintage, which opened a two-floor flagship at number 54 on 6 August 2026, its eleventh shop in London. It carries women's, men's and children's collections and mixes them across both floors rather than sending menswear upstairs. Hours are 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sunday.
Sunspel, 7 Redchurch Street
Sunspel has its Shoreditch shop at 7 Redchurch Street, listed on the brand's own store page alongside its other London branches. Its site does not publish shop hours on that page, so ring ahead if you are making a special trip.
Food, a drink and a view
Boundary has its entrance on Redchurch Street, though its address is 2-4 Boundary Street. The hotel has two restaurants and several bars, and the rooftop bar and glass Orangery look out over Shoreditch and the City. On its seasonal hours the rooftop opens Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 11pm; it is over 18s only and cashless. One correction to older guides: Smoking Goat, long associated with this corner, now lists its address as 64 Shoreditch High Street.
How to do it
- Weekday mornings are the quiet time; shop staff have time to talk and fitting rooms are free.
- Saturday afternoons are when you will share the pavement most.
- Sunday works well if you start late: Labour and Wait and Earl of East open at 10am, Studio Nicholson and American Vintage at noon, which gives you time for Columbia Road first.
- Link it up: the street sits between Brick Lane and Shoreditch High Street, so it pairs naturally with the vintage shops on Brick Lane.
Who it suits
Redchurch Street is not a bargain street. It is where you come for one good thing rather than a bag of cheap ones: a shirt you will keep for years, a broom that outlives the flat, a candle as a proper present. If you want to rummage, Brick Lane's vintage rails are close by. If you want to buy once and well, stay here. Labour and Wait also has shops in Marylebone and Covent Garden, but this is the one in the old pub, and the building is half the point.
Why the street turns over
Redchurch Street has been a shopping street for long enough that guides from even a few years ago list names that have gone. That is the reason to check before you make a special trip for one shop: every opening hour in this guide comes from the shop's own website this month, and we will update the page as the street changes.
